Job summary

El Camino College is seeking a Toolroom & Industrial Equipment Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair tools and equipment in classrooms, labs, and studios. Under supervision, you will check tools in and out to students and faculty, and assist with inventory management.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and at least three years of experience in operation and repair of equipment. Desired skills include CNC, Lathes, Mills, 3D printers, electrical knowledge, and high voltage

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Three (3) years of experience with operation and repair of equipment and tools in the specialty area.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderately complex repair and maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Repair and maintenance of a wide range of shop equipment, parts, and tools.
• Repair and maintenance of electronic equipment used in classrooms, labs, or other instructional facilities.
• Adjust, calibrate, and assure proper operation of tools and equipment; configure and repair computer hardware and install/upgrade software.
• Check out tools, equipment, and supplies to students in an assigned area.
• Operate specialized hand and power tools and equipment following health and safety regulations.
• Assist with budget input and equipment projections for the year.
• Research vendors for the best products and pricing.
• Set up labs for student work and monitor safety in labs.
• Purchase supplies and maintain inventory for tool room equipment and supplies.
• Stay updated on new tools and technology in the area.
