Job summary

Hanson Professional Services Inc. in Houston, Texas is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to gain hands-on experience in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design and evaluation on real-world projects.

You will work alongside licensed engineers, perform routine analyses, assist with technical documentation, and participate in project meetings from concept through construction, with mentorship and opportunities to network across Hanson teams.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Preferred to have completed at least sophomore year prior to start.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Interest in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building systems design.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering staff in the execution of project deliverables.
• Assist with engineering analyses, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Participate in project meetings and coordination activities.
• Observe and contribute to the design process from concept through construction.
• Gain exposure to client service, project management, and field activities.
• Build professional relationships through networking opportunities, intern events, and collaboration across Hanson teams.
• Limited travel to project sites, client locations, or other Hanson offices may be required.
