Job summary

Moxtek in Utah seeks a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join the X-ray Windows and Detectors team. The position is part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer, focusing on design, build, and test of new X-ray detectors and windows.

You will design, assemble, and test using advanced 3D modeling and prototyping, collaborating with R&D, manufacturing engineering, and production to improve manufacturability and performance.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS or higher in mechanical engineering; graduation 2028.
• Experience with CAD; SolidWorks preferred.
• Experience in experimental setups and mechanical design.
• Basic programming knowledge (LabVIEW, C, C#, MATLAB) is a plus.
• U.S. work authorization; no sponsorship needed.

Responsibilities

• Update mechanical drawings to meet current specs and processes.
• Optimize X-ray products, equipment, and fixturing using 3D modeling and experimentation.
• Integrate mechanical parts with electronics.
• Hands-on equipment setup; use of 3D printers for prototyping.
• Improve manufacturing methods, test procedures, and test equipment under guidance of experienced engineer.
• Plan laboratory experiments to confirm performance of designs and evaluate processing parameters.
• Prepare technical reports to document experimental results and design decisions.
• Demonstrate a methodical approach to problem solving.
