Job summary

Johns Manville in Littleton, CO is seeking a 2027 summer intern passionate about project engineering, design, and industrial manufacturing. You will work with engineers to support capital projects and learn how JM designs, builds, and commissions equipment.

This internship offers exposure to CAD tools, documentation workflows, and real-world manufacturing environments. You will gain hands-on experience while contributing to safety, quality, and efficiency initiatives.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Machine Design, Industrial Engineering, ACAD Design, Robotics/Mechatronics Engineering.
• Completed sophomore year of undergraduate coursework and enrolled in junior classes for Fall 2027.
• Completed coursework in mechanical design, CAD and/or process engineering.
• Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• AutoCAD experience is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with mechanical Project Engineers, Operations, R&D Engineers, Division Engineering and Capital and Engineering Services leadership to execute capital project support tasks.
• Develop workflows and documentation for project engineering documents including project document storage and team communication structures.
• Formalize workflows to ensure consistency of execution and update procedures as technology evolves (AI focus).
• Understand and execute design updates and modifications to existing engineering documentation.
• Understand the engineering workflow from concept design to procurement and startup planning.
• Review process and machine design to evaluate safety risks and tooling.
• Identify and qualify vendors and obtain quotes for equipment or installations.
• Provide project status and update reports as needed.
• Travel to plants/vendors if needed.
