Quantinuum seeks a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Photonics Physics Package R&D in Broomfield, CO. You will join a cross-disciplinary team advancing cryogenic photonics for trapped-ion quantum computers, helping design, build, and validate test hardware.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a ME degree with CAD experience (SolidWorks/Onshape) and hands-on lab skills, graduating after Dec 2027. U.S. work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related degree.
• Graduating after December 2027.
• Due to visa sponsorship restrictions, applicants must have work authorization for the United States with Quantinuum.
• Due to national security requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens or comply with policy.

Responsibilities

• Support the trapped-ion integrated photonics R&D effort through design, build, and operation of cryogenic UHV test systems.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, and assembly documentation for mechanical components and test hardware.
• Collaborate with engineers to fabricate, assemble, troubleshoot, and improve ion trap test systems.
• Collect and analyze data to validate hardware performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Assist with design reviews, documentation, and configuration management.
