Qualifications

• Pursuing BS in Mechanical Engineering with ≥2 years completed.
• Interest in design consulting and client-facing work.
• Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with AutoCAD/BIM.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design portions of mechanical-system projects according to code and IMEG standards.
• Assist with researching commercially available equipment resources.
• Support client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files.
• Coordinate design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment-supplier disciplines.
• Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
• Review project documents for accuracy before final check.
• Prepare and issue addendum information.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement.

This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities. IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Melbourne, FL to work with experienced engineers and consultants on engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. This 10-12 week internship offers hands-on experience supporting project work.

You will assist with project work within monetary budgets and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. The team serves education, corporate, and commercial markets while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do

What You'll Bring

Required Education

• - Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required

Required Skills/Abilities

• - Strong interest in design consulting
• - Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
• - Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
• - Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred

• - Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
