Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs offers a best-in-class internship program in the steel industry, invitingMechanical Engineering students to gain hands-on experience at our Mansfield plant. Interns participate in predictive, preventative, and emergency maintenance, working with engineers and operators to develop real-world solutions.

Enrollment must be in a BS program with Sophomore status by summer 2027, and applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a B.S. program in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field.
• Sophomore-year completion by Summer 2027 required.
• Eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and/or perform predictive, preventative, and emergency maintenance of equipment.
• Research, design, evaluate, install, modernize, redesign, operate, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment.
• Resolve equipment malfunctions, including those requiring scheduled shutdowns or breakdown actions.
• Participate in planning, scheduling, and cost control of maintenance/engineering projects.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
• Analyze current operating performance and SOPs and make improvement recommendations.
• Contribute to various other projects to support the business.
