The internship trains the next generation of fusion engineers, with projects spanning mechanical, electrical, and fluids domains, requiring hands-on problem solving and strong CAD/GD&T skills.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• GPA 3.0 or above.
• Availability for 12 consecutive weeks during Summer 2027 on-site in Everett, WA.
• Hands-on exposure to multiple engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, fluids).
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (NX, SolidWorks) and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Own and understand designs across subsystems in electromagnetics, structures, fluids, thermal, and control systems.
• Learn from historical engineering approaches, design hardware, and test solutions.
• Fix hardware issues on integrated fusion generators using engineering first-principles and applied methods.
• Collaborate on R&D efforts and contribute ideas for next-generation machines.
