Job summary

S&C Electric Company is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a Full-Time Summer 2027 internship in Chicago, IL. The intern will assist the Manager - Process Engineering and project engineers with process engineering and facilities tasks across plating, finishing, painting, and related projects.

Qualified students must be pursuing Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, returning to school full-time after the internship, with good communication and basic math skills and familiarity with CAD

Qualifications

Must be a student at the Bachelor's or Master's level majoring in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and returning to school full-time after the internship.
Excellent communication skills and basic math/bookkeeping skills.
Familiarity with Microstation, AutoCAD and/or other CAD software.
Computer proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel.

Responsibilities

Perform engineering tasks/calculations.
Write basic functional descriptions of different mechanical systems.
Field verification of existing conditions.
Research to find equipment meeting specified requirements from calculations.
Prepare CAD layouts and drawings on Microstation or AutoCAD.
Work with contractors to implement/install projects.
Prepare engineering documentation for projects.
