Job summary

Gray AES is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 at our Lexington, KY office to support project teams with mechanical and plumbing system designs.

The role involves using Revit and AutoCAD for drawings, participating in energy calculations, and collaborating with engineers and project managers to meet deadlines while learning through mentorship and on-site training.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is preferred.
• Basic proficiency in 3D building modeling software (e.g., Revit) and BIM workflows
• Familiarity with mechanical systems and building codes (e.g., IBC, ASHRAE, NFPA).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in understanding project requirements and client needs.
• Support the development of mechanical and plumbing system designs.
• Contribute to plans, specifications, and design drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Help perform energy and load calculations under supervision.
• Select and schedule mechanical equipment with guidance.
• Participate in cost and value analysis discussions with the project team.
• Attend internal and client meetings to gain exposure to project coordination.
• Engage in on-the-job training and mentorship to build skills.
