Job summary

Lennox International in Carrollton, Texas, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to collaborate with experienced engineers on developing test methods and analyzing performance data for HVAC components. You will support product development and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Successful interns may have the opportunity to join Lennox Full-Time after graduation. Relocation and travel may be required. Competitive pay and relocation support are provided.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and setting up tests to evaluate HVAC components and systems.
  • Support product qualification and validation with hands-on testing.

  • Develop Python-based tools to automate data analysis and reporting.
  • Create visualizations and summaries to aid data-driven decisions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on product development and sustaining projects.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Product Testing & Validation
  • Assist in developing and setting up tests to evaluate the performance and reliability of new HVAC components, including motors, compressors, and other mechanical systems.
  • Support product qualification and validation activities through hands-on testing and data collection.
  • Document test procedures, results, and findings to support engineering decisions.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve product performance and reliability.
Data Analysis & Engineering Tools
  • Analyze engineering test data to identify trends, performance issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop Python-based tools and scripts to automate data analysis and reporting.
  • Create visualizations and summaries that help engineers make data-driven decisions.
  • Support modeling and analysis activities related to product performance.
Cost & Product Improvement Initiatives
  • Assist in identifying and evaluating cost reduction opportunities for products and components.
  • Support engineering studies focused on improving product quality, efficiency, and manufacturability.
  • Participate in brainstorming and problem-solving activities to drive continuous improvement.
Team & Project Support
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on product development and sustaining projects.
  • Assist with research, testing, and technical investigations.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates on assigned tasks.
  • Take on special projects that provide exposure to multiple areas of engineering.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer principles
  • Experience with Python programming and data analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret technical data and draw meaningful conclusions
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience analyzing large datasets and developing engineering tools
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems or mechanical product development
  • Exposure to laboratory testing and data acquisition systems
  • Understanding of reliability, performance testing, or product validation methodologies

What We Are Looking For

Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Entry Level.Developing professional knowledge in the area of expertise. Solid written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office.

What We Offer

Compensation: This is an hourly non-exempt role. The starting pay range for this role and market is between $22.50 – $25.00/hour. This rate is based on the intern's current year in their respective university programs. Graduate students may receive a higher rate of pay based on their year in school. Employees in this role are also eligible to earn overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law).
