CONVERGIX Automation Solutions is seeking an industrious Mechanical Engineering intern in Bridgman, MI. You will refine concepts into manufacturable designs, support testing, and collaborate with engineers to meet performance, durability, and cost targets.

Mentors will guide you toward becoming a Lead Mechanical Engineer as you gain experience in automation equipment design and project teamwork. Start date is May 2027, with hands-on growth opportunities and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Working toward a Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD.
• Strong math aptitude for calculations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Willingness to travel; travel to customer/vendor facilities will be limited.
• Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Update Part models and drawings.
• Bill of Material maintenance.
• Support the Lead Mechanical Engineer on projects.
• Assist with hands-on assembly, testing, design, and troubleshooting of custom automation equipment.
• Contribute to multiple projects daily.

The Role

Be Part of a fast paced, leading edge Automation Equipment Design and Manufacturing company. In this position will be responsible for timely and quality completion of equipment design per the customer specifications. You will refine design concepts into practical, manufacturable designs that meet performance, durability, and cost targets. Experienced engineers will mentor you to learn automation and help you grow to be a Lead Mechanical Engineer. This position reports to Mechanical Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Update Part models and drawings.
• Bill of Material maintenance.
• Supporting the Lead Mechanical Engineer on projects.
• Assist with hands-on assembly, testing, designing, and troubleshooting of custom automation equipment.
• Contribute to multiple projects daily.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, and other team members.
• Work closely with your project team to find solutions to achieve targeted functional outcomes within defined budgets and timelines.

Qualifications And Experience

• Reliable transportation and an ability to travel, travel to customer/vendor facilities will be very limited.
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software.
• Proficient in MS office.
• Strong math aptitude and ability to perform basic calculations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of mechanical systems and hands on approach learning.
• Working toward a Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
• Occasionally lifts or move up to 25 pounds.
