Job summary

Convergix Automation Solutions is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Design Engineer to drive design and development of automation equipment per customer specifications. You’ll refine concepts into manufacturable designs meeting performance, durability, and cost targets, reporting to the Mechanical Design Manager.

The role requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering or journeyman tool making, 10 years’ experience in automation design, and proven leadership within cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or technical degree in Mechanical Engineering or Journeyman tool making.
• 10 years of experience designing automation equipment.
• Experience leading a mechanical design project team.

Responsibilities

• Play active role in Mechanical Design Engineering team and collaborate with colleagues.
• Handle complete design process from concept to detailed design and review.
• Develop mechanical components and assemblies meeting performance and manufacturability targets.
• Oversee engineering drawings and documentation per standards.
• Present designs to customers in weekly reviews.

Be Part Of a fast paced, leading edge Automation Equipment Design and Manufacturing company. In this position willbe responsible fortimelyand quality completion of equipment design per the customer specifications.You will refine design concepts into practical, manufacturable designs that meet performance, durability, and cost targets.This position reports tothe Mechanical Design Manager.

KeyResponsibilities

• Play an active role as a team member in the Mechanical Design Engineering team, contributingexpertise, and collaborating effectively with colleagues.
• Capable of handling the complete design process, frominitialconcept development to detailed design and final review.
• Develop and design mechanical components and assemblies, ensuring they meet functional, performance, and manufacturability requirements.
• Oversee the creation of engineering drawings and documentation, adhering to industry standards and company guidelines.
• Stay up to date on the latest mechanical engineering technologies and trends, continuously expanding their knowledge and skills.
• Collaborate with other engineers, designers, and cross function team members to ensure project success, fostering effective communication and teamwork.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and assembly teams, addressing design-relatedissuesand ensuring smooth production processes.
• Troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues, analyzing problems, and implementing effective solutions.
• Exhibit excellent communication and teamwork skills, fostering positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders.
• Presenting designs to customers in weekly review meetings.

Qualificationsand Experience

• Reliable transportation and an ability to travel.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Journeyman tool maker
• 10 years of experience in Designing Automation Equipment.
• Proven ability to Lead a mechanical design project team.
• Work effectively in cross functional teams.
• Proficient in SolidWorks CAD software including FEA simulation.
• Proficient in MS office and engineering calculation software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong practical knowledge of mechanical design and preform engineering calculations.

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this position, the employeeis regularly required tostand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel,talkand hear.
• Occasionallyliftsor move up to 25 pounds.
