Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems (SEWS) in Farmington Hills, MI is offering a Mechanical Development co-op position. The student will learn and contribute to electro-mechanical junction box design, NX 3D models, BOMs, and schematics while supporting testing activities.

The role targets undergraduate Mechanical Engineering students, with a preference for juniors. Strong English communication is required, and a minimum 15 hours per week during school months is expected, Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm ET.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering student; junior-level preferred, sophomores or possibly seniors may be considered.
• GPA minimum 3.0 requirement.
• Good English language skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Learn about design and development of electro-mechanical junction boxes.
• Create and maintain 3D fuse box designs, changes, and drawings using Unigraphics NX.
• Interpret, maintain, and develop schematics and BOMs.
• Prepare materials for testing and support testing activities.
• Collaborate with the team on continuous improvement efforts.
• Support open projects within the Mechanical Development group.
