Job summary

Mercury Systems in Andover, MA is seeking a motivated mechanical engineering co-op for January–June 2027. You will design and integrate electronic module and system assemblies, gaining hands-on experience with packaging, PCB layout support, and test fixtures.

You will collaborate with Electrical, Manufacturing, Quality, and Procurement, create SolidWorks models, manage BOMs, and support the product life cycle from integration to production release.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• GPA at least 3.1; transcripts may be requested.
• Basic understanding of heat transfer and thermal management.
• Knowledge of conventional and advanced manufacturing incl. additive.
• Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks).
• Proficient with standard documentation and presentation tools.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical tasks related to assembly, test fixtures, and packaging design.
• Support PCB layout and ECAD activities; assist with connector selection and cabling.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Manufacturing, Quality, and Procurement.
• Support product life cycle stages from integration to production release.
• Create complex SolidWorks models and detailed drawings.
• Document design concepts and communicate with internal/external teams.
• Assist in material procurement for prototypes to verify form, fit, and function.
• Draft test plans and inspection reports; manage BOMs/PLs.
• Draft and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs/ECOs).
