Job summary

Ruveon is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co‑op to collaborate with experienced engineers and plant personnel to improve chemical processes and equipment performance in a dynamic plant environment. You will gain hands‑on experience with process optimization, automatic process control systems, and Lean initiatives while helping deliver safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations.

The assignment runs for 6 months with Spring 2027 or Fall 2027 start dates, with school schedule

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering.
• Successfully completed sophomore year or higher.
• Willingness to work in a chemical plant environment and ability to work 40 hours per week.
• Physically able to climb stairs and ladders and move safely within an operating plant.
• Ability to drive to and from the work location.
• Available for a 6‑month Co‑op assignment for Spring 2027 or Fall 2027, with accommodations for schools on the quarter system as needed.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment, communicate clearly, and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Help improve chemical processes by working on yield and capacity improvements, waste reduction, cycle time reduction, cost improvements, and modification or design of equipment;
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and provide recommendations to improve reliability and reduce costs associated with process‑area mechanical equipment;
• Support the design, installation, and start‑up of automatic process control, material handling, and distributed control systems;
• Assist engineers in developing project objectives and scope by analyzing customer requirements and producing sketches, drawings, written descriptions, or specifications for customer approval;
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards and procedures, OSHA and EPA standards, plant safety standards, pressure safety design, and environmental standards on all projects;
• Work with other engineers to gain insight into maintenance and reliability improvement programs in chemical plants and apply these learnings to assigned projects;
• Perform and check engineering calculations following standard methods and principles for projects;
• Assist with procurement activities, including equipment specifications, bid evaluation, and contract administration;
• Support engineering cost, feasibility, and planning studies by analyzing customer needs and data, researching options, coordinating with other engineers, and providing recommendations;
• Collaborate with production and technical staff on day‑to‑day activities such as process troubleshooting and problem solving with operations and compliance organizations to drive attainment of project goals;
• Aid implementation of the Operational Excellence program and support process improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives site‑wide.
