Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-op for January–June 2027 to support development, testing, and validation of mechanical subsystems. You will work with experienced engineers to design, build, analyze, and test mechanical systems while contributing to projects focused on innovation and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a mechanical engineering degree or related field.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
• Demonstrated ownership of projects and timely task completion.
• Adaptable to a fast-paced team environment.
• Interest in detailed design, materials, and drawings.
• Prior co-op/internship experience preferred.
• Hands-on prototyping experience with devices and tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate mechanical systems, test fixtures, and equipment.
• Collaborate with full-time engineers to define system requirements.
• Perform subsystem analysis, design, assembly, and validation.
• Document design decisions and test results clearly and timely.
• Develop, document, and execute mechanical testing methods.
• Create/modify CAD models and 2D drawings; perform tolerance analyses.
• Support troubleshooting of software, process, and hardware issues.
• Collaborate across engineering and manufacturing for goals and improvements.
