Job summary

National Carwash Solutions invites a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op to join our product development team in Des Moines, IA. You will engage in mechanical design, prototyping, testing and documentation for potential market releases, working hands-on with engineering and shop staff.

The role requires pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Sophomore–Senior standing, CAD solid modeling skills, and strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Candidate is Sophomore, Junior or Senior in Mechanical Engineering.
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• CAD solid modeling competency.
• Strong written and verbal communication; teamwork.
• Self-directed with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Analyze assigned projects to develop strategies for completion including the establishment of plans, goals, and objectives.
• Design and build test fixtures.
• Test and evaluate equipment to make or recommend design modifications.
• Provide assistance to manufacturing, and service personnel with troubleshooting of equipment.
• Work “hands-on” with other engineering and shop personnel in equipment development.
• Work both independently and collaboratively to design products for potential market release (phrasing).
• Support research and development of product innovation.
• Required to work cross functionally with other departments.
• Develop and present final project outcomes to peer and leadership groups

The Mechanical Engineer Co-Op will support product development through a variety of duties including mechanical design, analysis, prototyping, testing and documentation. The Mechanical Engineer Co-Op will work an estimated 40 hours per week and the dates will be approximately from Jan. 2027- May 2027.
