Job summary

National Carwash Solutions is seeking a Systems Control Technician to troubleshoot equipment and support uptime and safe production across our facilities. The role requires reading mechanical, electrical, and P&ID drawings, plus hands-on work with PLCs, HMIs, and related controls.

You will document PLC programs, back up control systems, and contribute to preventive maintenance, plant reliability, and continuous improvements in a multi-disciplinary team environment. OSHA and safety policies apply.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or 2-year certificate in a maintenance field such as Mechatronics Technology, Automation Controls/SCADA/HMI, or Industrial Electronics.
• Minimum 3 years of industrial electrical experience in a manufacturing environment (up to 600V AC/DC).
• Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience; ability to read mechanical, electrical and P&ID drawings.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot equipment to provide safe operation with maximum production uptime.
• Maintain PLC documentation and archive programs/drawings.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve automated equipment incl. I/O, sensors, relays, solenoids.
• Support I/O devices connected to PLCs (HMI, scanners, remote I/O) and pneumatic circuits troubleshooting.
• Improve equipment uptime and contribute to plant reliability maintenance.
• Schedule backups of electronic control programs and develop preventive maintenance programs.
• Diagnose hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical issues interfacing with electrical systems.
• Restore equipment to operation after malfunctions.
• Participate in root-cause analysis (8D or equivalent).
• Assist in specifications for equipment purchases and review control drawings.

Systems Control Technician, you will be responsible to troubleshoot equipment to provide safe operation with maximum production availability.

• Support the maintenance department by assisting in the troubleshooting of equipment issues, which includes troubleshooting PLC ladder logic and data handling functions
• Maintain PLC documentation upon receipt from equipment suppliers and an archive of PLC programs and machine controls drawings in an electronic and/or paper format and throughout facility
• Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve automated equipment including devices, I/O, instruments, and all other components associate with automated processes to meet production and safety goals
• Support various I/O devices connected to PLC’s including HMI’s, scanners, remote I/O, sensors, relays, solenoids, etc., and support/assist maintenance personnel in troubleshooting pneumatic circuits
• Improve equipment uptime and contribute to Plant reliability maintenance
• Schedule and complete backups of all electronic machine control and robotic programs on set schedule and develop and maintain Preventive Maintenance Programs
• Diagnose problems with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems interfacing with electrical and electronic systems
• Determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to operation
• Implement and maintain data collection system from Plant floor processing equipment
• Identify and implement error-proofing requirements throughout the production process
• Part of multi-disciplinary PlantTeam to determine continuous improvement strategies
• Identify and plan for process impact(s) as a result of engineering and launch changes
• Participate in 8D or similar root-cause based problem solving tasks to ensure that abnormalities, when observed, are acted upon to resolve root-causes
• Contribute to specifications for equipment purchases, which include review and commentary on equipment controls drawings prior to build approval
• Support in the installation, commission and troubleshooting of automated equipment in all facilities
• Comply with all applicable OSHA, EPA, local regulatory laws, and company safety policies
• Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associates Degree/2 year certificate in maintenance field (ie. Mechatronics Technology, Automation Controls/SCADA/HMI, or Industrial Electronics)
• Minimum of 3 years of industrial electrical (voltages up to 600V AC/DC) experience in a manufacturing environment
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience reading and understanding mechanical, electrical and P&ID drawings
• Basic mechanical skills

Physical Requirements:

• Must stoop, bend, reach, walk; perform repetitive motions using hands to grasp, push, pull or do fine manipulations
• Required to stand for prolonged periods
• Intermittently lift medium to heavy weight up to 75 lbs.
• Intermittently required to bend and twist
