Job summary

Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Associate to support design of industrial, mission-critical, and healthcare projects in the Facilities Engineering Solution Center in Nashville.

Collaborate with project teams to deliver comprehensive design documents and perform HVAC calculations. With guidance from senior engineers, you will design HVAC ductwork and piping systems, and prepare 3D models and 2D biddable plans using engineering software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
• At least 1 year of experience, preferred.
• Experience using AutoCAD and/or Revit is preferred.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret job-related manuals and documents.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong interpersonal/communication and teamworking skills.
• Experience in building design/construction or related field a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project team members and client representatives to provide a comprehensive set of project design documents.
• Perform building heating and cooling loads using Trane or Carrier load calculation software.
• Design building HVAC ductwork and piping systems with guidance from senior engineers; prepare engineering calculations and construction documents.
• Assist in the analysis or preparation of engineering reports, specifications, plans, and designs for projects.
• Complete discrete engineering design tasks in HVAC, plumbing, process piping, and fire protection system design as assigned by senior staff.
• Perform routine manual calculations to support piping and duct system designs; calculate pressure drops and select pumps and fans.
• Coordinate with civil, architectural, structural, and electrical engineers for detailed designs.
• Participate in project site visits to verify conditions or observe construction activities.
• Participate in Construction Administration by reviewing submittals and responding to RFI from contractors.
