Mechanical Engineering — AI Trainer
About The Role

We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models — and we need mechanical engineers to make it happen. If you have deep knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, or related fields, this is your chance to directly influence how the next generation of AI reasons through complex engineering problems.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your expertise becomes the benchmark for AI intelligence.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
  • Design Advanced Engineering Problems — Craft challenging, domain‑specific problems across FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, fluid dynamics, and material science to rigorously test AI capabilities.
  • Author Gold‑Standard Solutions — Write precise, step‑by‑step technical solutions that serve as the benchmark the AI learns from.
  • Audit AI Reasoning — Review AI‑generated outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for technical accuracy and compliance with engineering standards (ASME, ISO, etc.).
  • Sharpen AI Thinking — Identify and document reasoning failures — such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or flawed FEA assumptions — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance.
Who You Are
  • Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
  • Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and mathematical reasoning clearly in writing
  • Highly precise when working with derivations, unit analysis, and physical system constraints
  • No prior AI experience required — if you know engineering, we'll handle the rest
Nice to Have
  • Prior experience in data annotation, quality evaluation, or technical review
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
  • Experience reviewing or writing technical documentation to industry standards
Why Join Us
  • Work on some of the most intellectually challenging problems in AI development
  • Fully remote and asynchronous — work on your own schedule
  • Freelance perks: autonomy, flexibility, and collaboration with experts around the world
  • Contribute to work that shapes how AI understands the physical world
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
