The Boring Company in Nashville is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design tunnel systems, boring machine parts, and supporting infrastructure onsite. You will apply SolidWorks and hand calculations to deliver robust hardware suitable for field conditions.

You will respond to real-world issues, develop parts to solve unforeseen problems, and communicate schedules to stakeholders while aligning with project goals. Collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 1+ years of experience in design, build and testing is preferred.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and basic machine design concepts are required.

Responsibilities

• Design various systems and sub-systems related to operations such as boring machine parts, support systems, support system equipment, passenger/construction vehicles, and tunnel infrastructure.
• React to real life situations in the field, creating and designing parts to solve unforeseen issues.
• Employ hand calculations, FEA and CAD to develop and communicate designs.
• Adhere to project schedules and ensure timely completion from conception to implementation.
• Communicate schedule to stakeholders and others with dependent systems, updating as changes occur.
• Ensure design choices fit into the larger operational context and future developments.
