The Boring Company in Nashville is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong design skills to contribute to the Music City Loop project onsite in Nashville.

You will design systems and sub-systems, perform hand calculations, CAD, and communicate with stakeholders to keep the schedule. A Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and SolidWorks proficiency are required.

This role emphasizes collaboration, practical fabrication experience, and a hands-on approach to solving field issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 1+ years of design, build and testing experience.
• Proficiency using SolidWorks.
• Experience creating manufacturing drawings.
• Hands-on hardware fabrication/assembly/testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Design various systems and sub-systems related to operations such as boring machine parts, support systems, support system equipment, passenger/construction vehicles, and tunnel infrastructure.
• React to real life situations in the field, creating and designing parts to solve unforeseen issues.
• Employ judgment, hand calculations, FEA and CAD to develop and communicate designs.
• Adhere to the project schedule and ensure timely completion from conception to implementation.
• Communicate schedule to stakeholders and others with dependent systems.
• Consider how the system fits into the larger operation and future developments.
