Applied Materials in Massachusetts is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and troubleshoot mechanical systems throughout the product life cycle. The role focuses on creating layouts, schematics, and specifications, and coordinating procurement and assembly for design projects.

You will apply physics, mathematics and materials science to resolve mechanical problems, oversee manufacturing processes, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2–4 years of related experience.
  • Experience with CAD software and thermodynamics is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering analysis under general supervision.
  • Design or modify basic mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, or drawings/specifications under general supervision.
  • Coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects; identify sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve moderately complex technical issues.
  • Perform and document engineering test reports; generate alpha/gamma documentation for product releases.
  • Perform engineering analysis; troubleshoot a variety of mechanical problems of moderate difficulty under general supervision.
  • Design, develop and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing and associated processes as needed.
  • Enable the handling, assembly and/or disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle, as needed.
