Job summary

Applied Materials, the global leader in materials science and engineering solutions, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Billerica, MA site. You’ll apply a strong physics and materials science foundation to design, analyze, and improve mechanical systems, overseeing tooling, assemblies, and life-cycle processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 10–15 years of experience in equipment design, assembly and fabrication.
• Deep technical expertise in equipment design and fabrication.
• Experience with semiconductor equipment, especially wet processing equipment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to explain complex information and build consensus.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop and implement concepts for a range of complex product engineering solutions.
• Lead or execute engineering projects and oversee mechanical aspects as part of the R&D team.
• Identify and troubleshoot a wide range of complex engineering problems.
• Specify or perform engineering analysis and FEA simulations.
• Coordinate with electrical, chemical, and software engineering groups to integrate mechanical solutions.
• Visit manufacturing and customer sites to identify and resolve first-time issues.
