Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Starlink Battery team in Redmond, WA to design and develop satellite battery packs. You will own pack-level design, integrate thousands of 2170 cells, and ensure reliability from assembly through on-orbit operation.

You will collaborate with cell teams, manufacturing, and thermal analysis to optimize energy density, manufacturability, and long-term performance, with opportunities for growth and mission impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering or STEM discipline.
• Experience with CAD and FEA software packages.
• 1+ years of experience with battery pack design, analysis, testing, and/or manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Design satellite battery packs integrating thousands of 2170-format cylindrical cells at high voltage.
• Perform CAD & analysis of mechanical, electrical, and thermal performance from ground tests to on-orbit operation.
• Drive design trades to maximize pack-level Wh/kg and minimize $/kWh; ensure manufacturability and fault tolerance.
