Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Satellite Solar Array within the Starlink program, based in Redmond, WA. You will design, qualify, and sustain photovoltaic power assemblies used across Starlink satellites and vehicles, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet factory rate, uptime, and cost goals.

You will perform hand calculations and FEA, produce drawings and specifications, and develop test procedures to validate space-grade solar hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
• 1+ years of professional experience (internships/co-ops accepted) with mechanical/electromechanical design, analysis, testing, and/or manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze solar array components from cells to assemblies.
• Own and design satellite mechanical systems for solar array sub-assembly.
• Prepare design reviews and optimize production yield, uptime, and cost.
• Collaborate with GNC, Avionics, Operations, Payloads.
• Provide calculations and FEAs as needed.
• Create drawings, schematics, and specs for purchase and manufacturing.
• Write and execute test procedures and verification plans.
• Perform DOE and SPC for process qualifications.
• Coordinate DFM changes with supply chain and production.
• Review on-orbit performance data and propose fixes.
