Job description

Location: Morgantown, WV | Schedule: Full-time, on-site

Overview

An established power generation facility is seeking a Rotating Equipment Mechanical Engineer to support plant reliability and performance. Reporting to the Reliability and Performance Manager, this role works across departments and with station management to monitor equipment condition and lead projects that improve facility reliability. The position applies engineering principles to provide technical support across system and plant performance, mechanical devices, components, steam turbines, pumps, valves, piping, supports, material handling equipment, and plant auxiliaries.

What you'll do
  • Provide technical guidance to other departments on processes, procedures, repairs, and projects
  • Assist in developing projects and evaluating proposals for material supply and installation
  • Assist and lead project execution to maintain budget and schedule compliance
  • Coordinate contractors in the execution of testing and maintenance
  • Participate in station programs and activities, including Root Cause Analysis investigations to identify causal factors and implement corrective actions
  • Monitor identified reliability and performance issues; work with station and external personnel to determine cause and resolution
  • Participate in planning and execution of outages to ensure scope, schedule, and budget are maintained
  • Lead and participate in the Team Safety Observation Program
  • Participate in and lead Management of Change (MOC) assignments
  • Support and lead 5-year budget development for areas of expertise
  • Work with maintenance and contractors to interpret PdM data and implement corrective actions
  • Support development, execution, and documentation of outages for assigned equipment
  • Monitor equipment health and processes through weekly performance meetings, Asset360 meetings, trend creation, and cross-department coordination
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
  • Maintain backlog of assigned work orders
  • Comply with Federal, State, and Local permit obligations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Accept accountability for own decisions, performance, and behavior
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in steam power plant operations
  • Strong fundamental understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mechanical systems
  • Extensive experience with personal computers and software including Excel, Word, MS Outlook, and Powerpoint
  • Ability to work independently and as an integral team member
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to organize and facilitate process teams to implement facility improvements
  • Ability to handle changing situations under stress and work extended hours on short notice if required
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment exam, including a drug/alcohol test, and a background check
Preferred qualifications
  • Steam turbine experience preferred
  • Experience with software applications such as OSIsoft PI, AutoCAD, Intertek AWARE, Maximo, Emerson Ovation, and TapRoot beneficial
