Job summary

HD Hyundai Power Transformers USA, Inc. in Montgomery, Alabama is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to develop the mechanical design of large power transformers from customer requirements through manufacturing release.

You will collaborate with electrical, control design, project engineering, purchasing, quality, suppliers and manufacturing to deliver safe, reliable and cost-effective designs. Responsibilities include creating 2D/3D layouts and drawings, designing tanks and cooling systems,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum 3 years of mechanical design experience in power transformer manufacturing or similar.
• Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD software (AutoCAD, Siemens NX, Creo, Inventor).
• Experience with pressure/vacuum, structural, lifting, transportation calculations.
• Familiarity with FEA tools (ANSYS or Nastran).
• Strong written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop 2D/3D mechanical layouts and drawings using CAD tools.
• Design transformer tanks, covers, stiffeners, radiators, piping, and related components.
• Verify clearances, interfaces, foundation, shipping, manufacturability, and site constraints.
• Perform mechanical calculations and use FEA as needed.
• Prepare BOMs, specifications, drawings, and calculations.
• Coordinate with engineering, quality, purchasing, suppliers, and manufacturing to resolve issues.
• Provide engineering support to fabrication, assembly, testing, and field service.
• Support design-for-manufacturing, cost reduction, and on-time deliverables.
