Job summary

HDR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Phoenix, AZ to lead the mechanical design for buildings and facilities. The role involves coordinating the design team, ensuring code compliance, and delivering integrated mechanical systems for commercial and institutional clients.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and a PE license, with experience in mechanical design, MS Office, and design software.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
Experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings is expected.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the work of the mechanical design team through schematic design, development, and contract document phase.
Establish meetings and participate in code compliance reviews with governing agencies.
Coordinate workload to complete documents on schedule.
Conduct work sessions at project sites with Project Manager and other disciplines.
Review mechanical documents for conflicts with other disciplines.
Write and edit mechanical specifications; select equipment and systems.
Coordinate with affected disciplines on addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders; integrate changes into documents.
Provide construction contract administration as needed.
Perform QA/QC on the work of junior mechanical staff.
