We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license to join our dynamic team of forensic experts. Vehicle Accident Reconstruction experience is required. ACTAR certification is preferred. In this role, you will leverage your technical knowledge and investigative mindset to analyze mechanical systems, mechanical equipment, component failures, and reconstruct accident scenarios, providing clear, defensible conclusions that make a real impact in legal and insurance cases.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

To investigate accident sites, vehicles, and equipment, researching, documenting evidence and determine damage, and provide clients with expert opinions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conducts investigations of vehicles, equipment, and accident sites to document the evidence and determine the scope of damage.
• Investigates and assesses damages due to failures and determines the origin of failure for insurers and litigation support.
• Researches, evaluates, analyzes and tests the causation of accidents and failures.
• Collaborates with other engineering disciplines to produce detailed reports outlining the cause of the accident.
• Serves as an expert witness in court and/or in depositions.
• Documents and maintains billable hours on a time and expense basis for failure analysis and engineering projects for clients.
• Collaborates with EFI's national team of forensic experts to leverage experiences and assist on projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education & Licensing
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.

As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is $130,000-$150,000.
