Job Title: Performance Solutions Project Engineer

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary & Nature of Work

The Performance Solutions Project Engineer plays a key role in developing negotiated, high-margin work for core Project Sales groups. This position serves as an internal technical resource, collaborating closely with project sales representatives and project managers to design, develop, and deliver successful projects.

As directed, the Project Engineer researches, reviews, and assists in the preparation of contract documents, budgets, and project schedules while ensuring compliance with safety, statutory, and legal requirements. The role also supports the development of client solutions through energy analysis, system design, and project documentation.

This individual is expected to maintain constructive relationships and clear communication with clients, vendors, subcontractors, inspectors, community officials, and internal teams. The Project Engineer will also maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, expanding professional networks, and participating in relevant industry associations.

Essential Job Functions
  • Support the project sales and project management teams in engineering and design, energy calculations, and document development (RFQ/RFP responses, proposals, and marketing collateral).
  • Meet regularly with project teams to review short-interval plans, RFI’s, change orders, purchase orders, and labor reports; provide technical and administrative support as needed.
  • Assist with project turnover, start-up planning, coordination, and execution.
  • Monitor and assist with cost control; identify productivity issues and communicate with the project manager or sales representative to address them.
  • Support the preparation and presentation of monthly profit forecasts and reviews, including identifying corrective actions to resolve quality, safety, productivity, or profitability concerns.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete communication.
  • Coordinate with all departments to ensure the timely delivery of materials, information, and manpower.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to senior leadership as requested.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full-time, in-office position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Travel
  • Local travel to various worksites may be required.
Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in a construction or engineering-related discipline, or five years of related trade experience/training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to research the marketplace, identify target customers, and support individualized sales and marketing efforts.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience managing complex or emotionally charged customer situations.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Autodesk, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
