SEA, Ltd in Irving, TX, is seeking a seasoned forensic engineer to lead field investigations and failure analyses across mechanical systems. You will prepare clear, actionable reports and support expert testimony while developing client relationships and contributing to strategic growth.

The role requires a PE license, a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering (master’s preferred), and 8+ years of experience. Occasional travel and ongoing professional development are expected.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field investigations and perform failure/accident analyses on mechanical systems and equipment
• Prepare oral and written reports documenting causes of failure, extent of loss, and remediation
• Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships, and promote self to client groups
• Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings as needed
• Maintain professional knowledge via workshops, publications, networks, and societies
• Travel up to 25% and lift up to 50 lbs

Our engineers reverse engineer and look for the \"why\" when things fail. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

• Conduct field investigations and perform failure and accident analysis on incidents involving all types of mechanical systems including natural gas, boilers, pressure vessels, steam valves, pumps, HVAC systems, plumbing and various mechanical devices and equipment
• Perform field investigations and perform forensic engineering & failure/accident analysis on incidents involving all types of machinery, mechanical equipment and devices including cranes, presses, pressure vessels and hydraulic, pneumatic systems, etc.
• Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
• Responsible for retention and development of client relations
• Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.
• Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
• Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
• Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
• Regular and predictable presence at work
• Other related duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required, Master's degree preferred
• Minimum of 8 years of post-academic work experience
• P. E. registration through testing is required
• Knowledge of gas systems and equipment
• Must possess strong writing skills
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to travel 25% of the time
