Job summary

Stillpoint AEC in Chicago is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC and mechanical systems for diverse building projects. You will perform load calculations, select equipment, and develop layouts and control sequences aligned with ASHRAE standards.

You will collaborate across disciplines, prepare calculations and drawings, and support design phases from schematic through construction documents. PE licensure is preferred, with opportunities for professional growth and licensure support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Current HVAC and mechanical building systems design experience in an MEP/AEC environment.
• PE licensure preferred; EIT toward PE considered.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC and mechanical building systems including air distribution, hydronic systems, central plants, heating and cooling systems, ventilation, and related infrastructure.
• Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, psychrometric analysis, and energy calculations.
• Develop system layouts, ductwork, piping, schedules, details, and control sequences.
• Evaluate equipment such as AHUs, rooftops, chillers, boilers, pumps, and heat exchangers.
• Coordinate with architecture, electrical, plumbing, structural, and civil disciplines.
• Support schematic design through construction documentation and administration.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship as appropriate.
