Job summary

Speciality Tooling Systems (STS) is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for Automation to design and develop intelligent industrial automation systems. You will collaborate with project managers and customers from concept through runoff on the customer floor, contributing to manufacturing design with Estimating, Controls, and Project management teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent, 1-5 years of related experience, and strong SOLIDWORKS proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant industry experience.
• 1-5 years of related work experience with mechanical design.
• Strong knowledge and experience with SOLIDWORKS mechanical design software.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Effective oral and written communications with customers, suppliers, and within the STS team.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Detail orientated.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality on sensitive projects.
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
• Remain flexible while working in a fast paced, frequently changing environment.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project managers and customers from design concept through completion/runoff on customer’s floor
• Contribute to manufacturing design process / concepts by collaboration with Estimating, Controls, and Project management teams.
• Typically own’s the complete design life cycle responsibilities of a project.
• Understanding of GD&T to develop successful fixturing of parts for assembly.
• Understanding needs of machine ergonomics, serviceability, and maintenance.
• Engineering structural components and validating with FEA.
• Work under other senior engineers on larger projects.
