Job summary

Aalberts IPSA in Pageland, SC seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support Operations, Sales, Procurement, and QA, developing tooling and 3D models to optimize the Apollo Valves line.

This full-time role reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and focuses on lean production, TPM, and continuous improvement across the manufacturing floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Associate degree in a related field.
• Mechanical/Manufacturing engineering coursework plus work experience.
• Proficient in 3D CAD modeling; Solid Edge experience is a plus.
• Machine tool design, selection, and application experience; metal forming a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Able to collaborate across departments in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiar with BOM, routings and time studies.
• Understanding of Lean manufacturing basics (8 Wastes, TPM, Kaizen, SMED).
• 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to Operations, Sales, Procurement, and QA.
• Maintain and develop best practices to produce the Apollo Valves line; design tooling.
• Design tooling, fixtures, and inspection equipment using 3D modeling and drafting (Solid Edge a plus).
• Assist in specification, procurement, and installation of machinery and tooling.
• Support CNC programming and tooling troubleshooting (Esprit CAM).
• Participate in product design to aid manufacturing.
• Develop TPM maintenance plans for department machinery.
• Engage in continuous improvement and standard work development.

Job description

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven Mechanical Engineer to unlock your ambition and work the future at Aalberts.

As a full-time Mechanical Engineer in the Machine shop at Aalberts, located in Pageland, SC, you will provide technical support to Operations, Sales, Procurement, and QA teams. You will be responsible for maintaining and developing best practices to produce the Apollo Valves product line. This includes but is not limited to: designing/revising tooling and fixturing, creating/revising models and drawings, troubleshooting machine/tooling/programming issues, development of standard work, and participating in lean production activities.

The Mechanical Engineer will assist with specification, procurement, and installation of machinery, tooling, and software. The Mechanical Engineer will serve as an integral team member within the Manufacturing Engineering Group, reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

• Investigate and implement new process improvements and advancements in manufacturing methods and/or technologies.
• Evaluates and recommends changes in methods and procedures in assigned areas of responsibility.
• Specify and assist in the specification, procurement, and installation of machinery and tooling.
• Design tooling, fixtures, and inspection equipment through the use of 3D solid modeling and 2D drafting software. Solid Edge a plus.
• Provide support in the form of troubleshooting tooling, machinery, machining, and programming problems.
• Provide CNC programming support through troubleshooting and use of Esprit CAM software.
• Participate in the product design process to aid in designing manufacturing.
• Assists in the development of maintenance (TPM) plans and instructions for all machinery in the department.
• Performs other special projects/tasks assigned by management.
• Participates in continuous improvement or problem/solving activities.
• Assist in the development and upkeep of Standard Work
• Complete additional duties assigned by your manager.

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Associates in Applied Science Degree.
• Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Manufacturing Engineering Technology or applicable course work combined with work experience.
• Proficient in 3D CAD Modeling software; modeling, assembly, and drafting. Solid Edge experience a plus.
• Machine tool design, selection, and application experience. Metal Forming (drawing, bending, etc.) experience a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Able to function in a highly collaborative environment and interact positively and openly with employees, supervisors, and other departments.
• Able to work constructively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
• Familiarity with BOM, Routings, and Time Studies.
• Understanding of Lean manufacturing basics (8 Wastes, TPM, Kaizen, SMED).
• Five-plus years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
