Job summary

Aalberts Integrated Piping Systems in Pageland, SC is seeking a Product Engineer I to support valve, backflow, and press connection lines. You will help maintain product data, assist with testing, respond to technical inquiries, and collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to advance product lifecycle activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 0 to 3 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience with CAD software such as Solid Edge, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, assembly, testing, and quality systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP, PDM, or product data management systems is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn product standards, certification requirements, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to technical inquiries related to product selection, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and product interchange.
  • Create, revise, and maintain engineering drawings, 3D models, bills of material, and technical documentation.
  • Support engineering change requests, technical data updates, and product documentation maintenance activities.
  • Assist with product validation testing, data collection, analysis, and test reporting.
  • Support product approvals, certifications, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Investigate customer returns, NCRs, warranty claims, and field performance concerns under guidance of senior engineers.
  • Maintain product information within engineering systems, including ERP, CAD, and PIM platforms.
  • Support new part number creation, engineering data management, and product lifecycle activities.
  • Participate in cross-functional engineering projects supporting product improvements, cost reduction, compliance, manufacturing transfers, supplier transitions, reliability, and product lifecycle initiatives.

As a Product Engineer l, you will support the engineering activities associated with our valve, backflow prevention, and press connection product lines. This role focuses on maintaining product data, supporting technical inquiries, assisting with product testing and compliance activities, and helping resolve product and manufacturing issues. You will work closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, product management, and customer-facing teams while developing technical knowledge of our products, applications, and industry requirements.

work environment
  • This role is primarily based in office areas but may involve occasional visits to production and warehouse areas requiring adherence to safety protocols, including personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, a safety vest, and steel-toed shoes when on the shop floor or near loading docks.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for computer work, data entry, and handling documents.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift or move items up to 25 pounds, such as files, boxes, or company branded items or equipment.
  • Visual acuity to review detailed reports, production schedules, P&C data, personnel data on screens and in print.
  • Clear verbal communication skills to coordinate with all departments, vendors and colleagues.
  • Exposure occasionally to a manufacturing environment that may include noise, temperature variations and moving equipment.
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toed boots, gloves, hearing protection, and respirators when applicable.
  • Ability to respond to alarms and emergencies in a fast-paced industrial setting.
  • Clear verbal communication skills to coordinate with all departments, vendors and colleagues. Specifically, upper intermediate (B2) language level in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, leaders, vendors, and visitors in office, production, and warehouse environments, including areas where background noise is present and hearing protection is required. Must be able to receive and exchange information necessary to perform the essential functions of the role and follow safety protocols in an industrial setting, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Occasional travel up to 20% of the time to Aalberts sites and lab.
