Job summary

Quest Global is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support Locomotive Truck subsystem development and ensure designs meet system requirements. The role involves leading requisition work and coordinating interfaces across subsystems.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering degree with at least 2 years of experience in locomotive or automotive-related engineering, CAD and 3D modeling skills, and strong cross-functional collaboration abilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors /master’s degree in mechanical engineering with minimum 2 years of requisition experience in Locomotive truck/ automotive suspension & steering/ automotive chassis or heavy fabrication engineering areas.
  • Engineering experience on definition of components required to meet customer specifications.
  • Technical understanding and capabilities in specification review, product definition and documentation.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to interface with cross-functional teams; resolve inter-subsystem issues.

Responsibilities

  • Define the Truck subsystem and its components for locomotive requisitions following robust Engineering Process.
  • Capture and consolidate all requirements, coordinate the Truck component interface with other subsystems and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory specifications.
  • Lead documentation of locomotive Truck components across projects like NPI, requisition, productivity, and reliability.
  • Guide cross-functional teams to support projects and ensure adherence to customer processes and program requirements.
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated and leverage it for training and optimization.

Role Summary/Purpose
What You Will Do
  • Mechanical Engineer will play the key role in the technical responsibility of requisition work of the Locomotive Truck (Bogie) sub system and ensure design complies with subsystem / System level requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Define the Truck subsystem and its components for locomotive requisitions following robust Engineering Process.
  • Capture and consolidate all requirements, coordinate the Truck component interface with other subsystems and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory specifications.
  • Must lead documentation of locomotive Truck components covering various types of projects like NPI, requisition, productivity, service productivity & reliability etc.
  • Must lead projects by adhering to customer processes and assist cross functional teams to support assigned projects; meeting business standards and program / product requirements.
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated and leverage it for training/ leaning and effort optimization.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelors /master’s degree in mechanical engineering with minimum 2 years of requisition experience in Locomotive truck/ automotive suspension & steering/ automotive chassis or heavy fabrication engineering areas.
  • Should have engineering experience on definition of components required to meet customer specifications
  • Technical understanding and capabilities in specification review, product definition and documentation.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal Skills to interface effectively with cross functional teams. Should be able to resolve inter sub-system issues through specific actions.
  • Experience of guiding CAD team to develop 3-D models and packaging concepts & drawing needs.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Characteristics
  • Master degree in Mechanical Engineering / Aerospace etc
  • Good understanding of rail standards such as AAR, EN, RGS, UIC, and APTA standards etc.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes including fabrication, casting, forging and mechanical assembly procedures and component validation
Work Requirements

This role is considered an on-site position located in Erie, PA

  • You must be able to commute to and from the location with your own transportation arrangements to meet the required working hours.
  • Shop floor environment, which may include but not limited to extensive walking, and ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
