Phoenix Technical Solutions is seeking an Engineer to support GE Transportation locomotive traction motor builds in Las Vegas, NV. You will maintain and create manufacturing instructions and support tooling and improvements to ensure proper assembly of locomotive components.

As Site POC, you will coordinate with Design Engineering and other departments to implement cost-saving, productivity, and reliability projects, and drive process changes through documentation and Change Management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• Experience leading multiple projects and teams.
• Knowledge of engineering specifications and SOPs.
• Experience with manufacturing processes and business practices.

Responsibilities

• Serve as site point of contact for assembly and testing of locomotive traction motors.
• Interface with customer departments to ensure compliance with engineering specs.
• Lead and coordinate manufacturing initiatives focusing on cost savings, productivity and reliability.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering and other teams on DFx, financial impact, and Change Management.
• Set project priorities with factory and process engineering teams.
• Prepare change documentation for disassembly/assembly processes.
• Support shop floor initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Support MRB decisions for qualifying non-conforming material.

Manufacturing Engineer – Propulsion Mechanical Assembly and Test Support

Location: GE Transportation (A Wabtec Company) – Las Vegas, NV

Job Description

Phoenix Technical Solutions is looking for an Engineer to work with their GE Transportation customer. The engineering position is responsible for providing technical support for locomotive traction motor builds. These efforts include maintaining and creating manufacturing instructions, supporting tooling and manufacturing improvements to assure the proper assembly and manufacture of locomotive components.

Responsibilities

• Site point of contact for supporting assembly and testing of locomotive traction motors.
• Interface with respective customer departments to ensure compliance with the engineering specifications as outlined by the Design Engineering Team.
• Lead, execute and coordinate manufacturing initiatives with other interdisciplinary teams on cost savings, productivity and reliability projects.
• Work with all applicable departments and suppliers on all stages of the design for manufacturing processes, including, Process Failure Mode Analysis, financial impact, and Management of Change Process.
• Work in coordination with the factory and process engineering teams to set project priorities and implementation schedule.
• Manufacturing point of contact for preparing necessary change documentation for component disassembly and assembly processes documentation.
• Support shop floor initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Support technical decisions thru MRB for qualifying non-conforming material for assembly and test.

Desired Skills

• Experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Solid interpersonal/communication and leadership abilities
• Knowledge of technical documentation (Engineering Specifications, SOP’s, etc…)
• Experience/knowledge with general manufacturing processes and business practices.
• Additional experience/knowledge with locomotive systems a plus.

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Industrial) or equivalent experience in a technical role.
