Job summary

Engineering Resource Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support design and sustaining engineering for lighting fixtures. You will design custom modifications driven by customer requests and drive internal improvements across released product families.

The role includes updating 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks, generating ECNs and BOMs, and managing BOM changes in ERP. Collaboration with manufacturing and suppliers is essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Electromechanical or Mechatronics Engineering (or related field).
• Minimum 1 year of product development experience (4+ years preferred).
• Experience with 2D/3D CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalent).
• Working knowledge of BOMs and ERP systems.
• Knowledge of castings, forgings, extrusion, machining, sheet metal and finishing is a plus.
• LED technology experience and UL/CSA/ NEC knowledge are a plus.

• Permanent position for a Mechanical Engineer supporting design and sustaining engineering of lighting fixture products.
• Design custom product modifications driven by customer requests, along with internal enhancements across released product families.
• Update 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks.
• Generate ECNs, bills of material and related engineering data; manage BOM changes in the ERP system.
• Apply DFM, DFA and tolerance stack analysis with manufacturing, supply chain and vendors to optimize cost, quality and performance.
• Resolve product, field and problem-job issues with quality, production, customer service and technical support teams.
• Review vendor change requests and revise design data as required.
• BS Mechanical, Electromechanical or Mechatronics Engineering (or related technical field).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in product development (4+ years preferred).
• Experience with 2D/3D CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalent).
• Working knowledge of BOMs and ERP systems.
• General knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring.
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude with hand and power tools.
• Background in consumer electronics or another manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of castings, forgings, injection molding, extrusions, machining, sheet metal, stamping and surface finishing (powder coat, paint, plating) a plus.
• Knowledge of UL and CSA standards and the NEC a plus.
• LED technology experience (COBs, PCBs, drivers, controls, thermal management and heat sink design) a plus.
