Functions

Engineer II will work closely with team members too:

  • Review documents, piping and HVAC diagrams, mechanical systems, equipment design and functions and performance analyses.
  • Produce drawings in AutoCAD, calculations and analyses by hand or using relevant software.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to ensure quality deliverables are submitted in accordance with the Contract requirements.
  • Production of detailed plans of action and deficiency reports to support the project objectives and schedules.
  • Assist with construction planning support activities.
  • Assist in the integration of the design in Production and work closely with shipyard personnel.
  • Use software such as GHS, Flow 3D, femap/Nastran and any other new software the company may decide to use.
  • Perform heavy lift calculations.
  • Perform stability calculations and checks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Reporting Relationship

  • This position will report to Design Group Manager or Director of Engineering

Qualifications

Education/Experience: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Marine Engineering

Required

The qualified candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience:

  • Should have 5-10 years of experience in either commercial marine or government shipbuilding programs.
  • Have good analytical skills.
  • Be capable of working with minimum supervision to accomplish assigned tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret contract requirements and specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD.
  • Capable of learning department-specific software programs to assist in various analyses.
  • Familiarity with Class and Statutory rules.
  • Expertise of GHS, FEA software is desired.

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Card preferred.
