Under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer I is responsible for managing production part number projects for ECN’s and Transfers, including tooling, fixtures, gauging, production routings, schedules, dimensional approval, costs, profitability, and customer contact / correspondence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded from time to time to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary. Included in this are the essential duties listed under Manufacturing Engineer I and II.

  • Manage and facilitates all part number project activities in multiple facilities including tool design, gauge design, and supplier selection.
  • Leads all APQP process for all assigned part projects.
  • Acts as a mentor and resource to other Engineer’s at a level I & II. May be responsible for Engineering Intern program.
  • Act as an influencer and contributing member to the plant management team on process improvement projects, OKR’s (i.e. OpEx planning, CI activities).
  • Investigate and correct part number scrap/defect related issues.
  • Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing procedures.
  • Ability to stand in for Process/Project engineer as it relates to new or in production part activity.
  • Ability to effectively manage and problem solve through customer line down situation, tight project development timelines, and quality concerns.
  • Participate in activities related to audits, regulatory, customer, and registrar.
  • Assist in company technical advancement through research and development.
  • Perform customer technical sales presentations/seminars at customer sites.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Requires a bachelor's degree in technical engineering field from a four-year college or university and 5+ years’ experience; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience working in a foundry is required and experience with CAD, FEA, and MiniTab software preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Able to understand advanced statistical concepts such as Six Sigma, CPK, CP, SPC, and Gauge R&R.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Requires the ability to operate various equipment to include various precision measuring devices and lifting devices. Requires a broad knowledge of tooling, material characteristics, and general manufacturing and machining practices. Should be knowledgeable and/or familiar with applicable ISO/IATF/AS and quality system requirements and policies. Be knowledgeable of 3D solid modeling (SolidCast) and NX (UniGraphics). Apply GD&T principles and continuous flow manufacturing principles. Proficient with MS Office Suite products.
