Job summary

GBA is seeking a Mechanical/Electrical Intern to join the Mission Critical group in our Lenexa, Kansas office. The team supports data centers, telecommunications, and industrial facilities as an integrated group of architects, engineers, and project managers.

Summer interns will work alongside engineers and architects on the design of mechanical/electrical systems under the direction of GBA's senior staff, gaining hands-on experience across project types from start to finish in a collaborative

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Must have completed at least 2 years of education.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Strong oral and written communication.
• Interest in collaborating in a team environment.
• Previous internships are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Preparing construction documents for various electrical and mechanical systems.
• Review of shop drawings and RFIs
• Verification of permitting and code requirements
• Facility evaluations and engineering studies
• Troubleshooting and commissioning
• Other duties as assigned

This group specializes in the Mission Critical industry and serves many of the top Information Technology companies as an integrated team of architects, engineers, commissioning specialists, and project managers.

What You'll Do:

• Preparing construction documents for various electrical and mechanical systems.
• Review of shop drawings and RFI’s
• Verification of permitting and code requirements
• Facility evaluations and engineering studies
• Trouble shooting and commissioning
• Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring:

• Pursuing BS in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software – Word, Excel, Outlook
• Must have completed at least 2 years of their education
• Must have a working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Interest working in a collaborative team environment
• Previous internships are a plus
