Job summary

GBA is seeking a Mechanical/Electrical Intern in the Mission Critical group at our Lenexa, Kansas office. The intern will assist with design of mechanical/electrical systems for data centers, telecommunications, and industrial facilities under senior staff guidance.

Summer interns will gain hands-on experience, work as part of a collaborative team, and contribute to projects from start to finish, including documentation, drawings, and commissioning support.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Must have completed at least 2 years of coursework.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD is required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Interest in collaborative team environments; internships are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction documents for electrical and mechanical systems.
• Review shop drawings and RFI's.
• Verify permitting and code requirements.
• Perform facility evaluations and engineering studies.
• Troubleshoot and assist with commissioning activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

GBA, a professional, full service architectural and engineering firm is seeking a student to join their team as a Mechanical/Electrical intern in our Mission Critical group in our Lenexa, Kansas office. This group specializes in the Mission Critical industry and serves many of the top Information Technology companies as an integrated team of architects, engineers, commissioning specialists, and project managers.

Summer interns will work alongside engineers and architects on the design of mechanical/electrical systems for data centers, telecommunications, and industrial facilities under the direction of GBA's senior staff. GBA offers the opportunity to work on a large variety of project types from start to finish, in a collaborative team environment.

What You'll Do:

• Preparing construction documents for various electrical and mechanical systems.
• Review of shop drawings and RFI’s
• Verification of permitting and code requirements
• Facility evaluations and engineering studies
• Trouble shooting and commissioning
• Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring:

• Pursuing BS in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software – Word, Excel, Outlook
• Must have completed at least 2 years of their education
• Must have a working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Interest working in a collaborative team environment
