Job summary

Dennis Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern to contribute to the design and implementation of mechanical systems for food and beverage facilities. You will assist with HVAC, plumbing, and fire suppression system work, performing loads, ductwork, piping layouts, and equipment sizing under supervision.

You will collaborate with internal and external teams, gain experience with P&IDs, construction drawings, and vendor coordination, and support BMS development while traveling to project

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field (Sophomore–Senior).
• HVAC and utilities design exposure is a plus.
• Familiarity with heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
• Experience with engineering design software (AutoCAD, Revit) preferred.
• Strong problem solving, organizational, and teamwork skills.
• GPA 3.0 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical system design for food/beverage facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire suppression systems.
• Assist with load calculations, piping layouts, and equipment sizing under supervision.
• Develop P&IDs, equipment layouts, and utility distribution plans.
• Coordinate with internal and external team members and vendors.
• Prepare calculations, reports, and construction drawings and specifications.
• Review submittals, RFIs, and site visits to ensure conformity with design intent.
• Support development of BMS controls with electrical/controls engineers.
