Job summary

Oshkosh Defense is seeking a mechanical engineering intern for Summer 2027 in Oshkosh, WI. You will assist engineers across design, production, and testing, preparing vehicle component layouts in CATIA/Creo/Pro-E and contributing to weight, cost, and reliability analyses.

Responsibilities include following assembly floor projects, generating weight and stress calculations, managing ECNs in PLM, and updating BOMs. Travel or relocation support is provided for eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• Student working towards a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering during the internship.
• Graduation date of December 2027 or later.
• Willing to travel or relocate to Oshkosh, WI for Summer 2027; relocation assistance provided for distant addresses.
• Experience using CATIA, Creo, Pro-E or similar CAD system is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers across design, production, manufacturing, industrial, and test roles with mechanical engineering tasks.
• Prepare vehicle component layouts using CAD software (CATIA, Creo, Pro/E).
• Select parts for weight, cost, reliability, and ease of manufacturing considerations.
• Follow projects on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production builds and provide technical assistance.
• Generate engineering calculations of weight distribution, stress analysis, and performance estimates.
• Create and manage ECNs in the PLM system; update BOMs to reflect product changes.
• Design, model, and test mechanical systems that integrate with a vehicle.
• Other duties as assigned; duties vary by business unit and location.
