Job summary

Saab in West Lafayette is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering student for a paid Summer 2027 internship to support aircraft design and production. The internship offers hands-on experience and mentorship in a real-world setting.

Under guidance of senior engineers, you will complete a designated project, collaborate with a mentor, and contribute to the T-7 trainer’s design and production by evaluating non-conformances and proposing improvements.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an accredited degree program, with a major in Engineering or related discipline is required.
• Completed Freshman year or greater at time of hire (fall 2026).
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
• Prior Internship/Co-Op experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete a designated internship project, leading and coordinating an engineering task with deliverable expectations.
• Partner with a mentor to solicit feedback and direction on the project.
• Contribute to production and design activities for the T-7 trainer by evaluating non-conformances and design improvements.
• Acquire experience in a design organization and understand aircraft design and production functions.
