Job summary

Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 2 to join the PMI Division in Madison, AL. You will design, model, and validate assemblies using SOLIDWORKS, support prototype builds, and interact with manufacturing teams to ensure high-quality drawings and data packs.

Requirements include a bachelor’s in engineering (or equivalent with 12+ years in design) and advanced SOLIDWORKS skills. On-site work in Madison, AL with background check and SECRET clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent with 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, or 12+ years’ hands-on mechanical design experience.
• Advanced skills creating mechanical drawings using SOLIDWORKS CAD software.
• Experience developing and preparing technical data packages.
• Demonstrated advanced solid modeling skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of ASME specifications and product data management (PDM).
• Ability to design and prototype with knowledge of manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Design, model, and validate parts and assemblies with SOLIDWORKS across varying complexity.
• Generate high-quality models from sketches, renderings, and concept designs.
• Guide manufacturing teams to ensure accuracy of fabrication drawings.
• Prepare presentations and demonstrations for customers and staff.
• Identify new manufacturing technologies and innovate materials/processes.
