Job summary

Quartus Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II in San Diego, CA. You will design high-precision mechanical assemblies and subsystems, collaborating with cross-disciplinary engineers across metrology, semiconductor equipment, and automation projects.

You will own the full lifecycle from concept to fabrication and testing, performing thermal and structural analyses and contributing to design reviews. A BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering and 2–4 years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 2–4 years of experience in high-precision mechanical design.
• Strong fundamentals in thermal expansion and thermal stability.
• GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and DOF constraints.
• Design for manufacturability essential.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks for modeling.
• Experience validating designs with FEA.
• Ability to take a design from concept through fabrication and test.
• U.S. Person required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop precision mechanical assemblies and subsystems.
• Select and integrate motion components and sensors.
• Build prototypes and create detailed production drawings.
• Support assembly, integration, and testing in lab or at customer sites.
• Perform risk analyses and lead FMEAs.
• Develop tolerance budgets and drive design decisions.
• Perform structural and thermal analyses to validate designs.
• Own technical documentation (CAD models, drawings, BOMs).
• Collaborate with program managers and customers on requirements.
• Lead projects independently or in multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in design reviews.
