Job summary

FormAlloy Technologies, Inc., based in San Diego, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a full-time, on-site role in the San Diego metro area. You will design complex electro-mechanical, optical, and laser systems, assemble and test prototypes, and create detailed documentation.

The role requires a bachelor's in mechanical engineering and at least 5 years of experience designing machine tools or industrial machinery, plus proficiency with SolidWorks and supplier interfacing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
• 5+ years designing machine tools and/or industrial machinery.
• 5+ years using SolidWorks in an industrial setting.
• Experience interfacing with suppliers including machine shops and fabricators.
• Experience technical writing of work instructions, manuals, and other technical documentation.
• Ability to conceptualize, design, build and test new designs efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Design complex electro-mechanical, optical, and laser systems.
• Assemble and test prototypes to meet functional goals.
• Create drawings, BOMs, work instructions, and plumbing schematics.
• Apply GD&T to precision components and assemblies.
• Interface with vendors for component information and pricing.
